If you’re coming from Cleveland, we recommend driving to Zoar in Tuscarawas County. There, you’ll find tons of attractions like the Historic Zoar Village, which features homes preserved from the mid-1800s. - Get on I-77 S from your starting location
- Follow I-77 S to OH-212 E in Bolivar. Take exit 93 from I-77 S (1 hour and 3 minutes)
- Turn left onto OH-212 E (5 minutes)
From Columbus

- Get on I-70 E

While Holmes County generally takes 2.5 hours to get to from Pittsburgh, you can shave off some time by stopping in New Philadelphia in Tuscarawas County.

This 160-mile scenic drive takes you through nearly the entirety of Holmes County, starting north of Killbuck to Millersburg, Berlin, Bunker Hill, Winesburg, and finally to Walnut Creek. You’ll find the largest Amish population across the US along this route, and you can definitely expect to see a few bicycles and even horse-drawn Amish buggies along the way.
Pro tip? Summer in Amish Country is the perfect time to experience this wonderful scenic drive. However, we’d recommend it to all our guests no matter the season since each time of year brings new colors and sites along the byway’s natural surroundings.
